William “Bill” C. Selck 77 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at his home. Bill was born on November 4, 1938 the son of William and Bethel (Sundre) Selck in Hitterdal, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes. As a young man he worked construction and later for Big 5 Co-op. Bill was united in marriage to Sonja Disney on September 1, 1962 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in rural Detroit Lakes. Bill started a career with the city of Detroit Lakes in 1978 and continued to work for the city until his retirement in 2006. Bill was a man of strong faith and lived his life for the Lord. He was also an active member of the Church of the Living God and was always willing to lend a helping hand we needed. Bill loved to spend time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and cutting wood to heat his home. Bill was a master of the garden, especially when it came to his tomatoes. Bill is survived by his wife, Sonja Selck of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Michael(Tracy) Selck of Detroit Lakes, MN; three grandchildren, Samantha Selck, Heather Selck and Sean Morrissey; great-grandson, Quinn Selck; honorary grandchildren, Jessica Brahmer, Heather Loberg and Kayla Lehmann; two sisters, Darlene “Tootie” Wilson of Detroit Lakes, MN; Anne Fogard of Mesa, AZ; brother, Clifford Selck of Detroit Lakes, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son, Randy, grandson, Nick Selck, two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Selck and sister, Betty Wallace.
