Charles Edward Magnusson 77 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home with family by his side. Chuck was born on February 27, 1938 to Cyrus and Mabel (Egeberg) Magnusson in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He was raised in Two Harbors until they moved to Richfield, Minnesota where he graduated high School. Chuck attended two years of college at the University of Minnesota for engineering. He was married to Judy Eaton in 1959 and raised two children, Jim and Julie. Chuck also served in the Air National Guard. Chuck worked forty two years with the Minnesota Highway Department at Two Harbors, Minneapolis and Crookston. He later divorced and was married to Patricia Hoglund on December 2, 1995 in Richfield, Minnesota. They resided in Crookston until retiring to the Detroit Lakes area. Chuck was active in the American Legion, 412 Car Club and the Midnight Cruisers in Detroit Lakes. He was the past Master with the Masons in Minnehaha and Crookston Lodge. Chuck was also a Shriner and hospital representative for the Shriner Hospital. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served an appointed office during that time. Chuck is survived by his wife, Patricia of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, James Magnusson of Bloomington, MN; daughter, Julie Magnusson of Eagan, MN; four grandchildren, Lee, Natalia, Luc and Anna; two step-children, Craig (Mary) Hoglund; Gwen (Jim) Ashley; three step-grandchildren, Abbey, Dustin and Eric; three brothers, Robert (Patty), John and Paul Magnusson; nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Judy.
