Phyllis M. Fingalson age 99 of Detroit Lakes, MN died July 10, 2016 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Phyllis Marie Fingalson was born March 28, 1917 to Peter and Beulah Belle (Larsen) Larson at home in Callaway, MN. She attended and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1937. She then moved to St. Paul, MN where she worked and married, raising three children. Moving back to Detroit Lakes, Phyllis fell in love and married Wallace Fingalson on February 2, 1949. Phyllis and Wallace made their home on his parent’s homestead and raised four more children. Phyllis was an active partner in managing the farm while Wallace worked as an operating engineer in road construction. Phyllis loved and was a enthusiastic member of Richwood Lutheran Church where she held several offices in Ladies Aid, Circle, and Sunday School. The 4-H organization was also a passion for Phyllis. She was involved in 4-H with her children and others for more than ten years. She devoted her life to her husband of fifty years, her children, her career as a mother and homemaker, and to her Lord and Savior. Phyllis was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and fellow church members. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Ann) Fingalson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Mark Fingalson, of Callaway, MN; four daughters, Connie (Bob) Fairbanks, of Anchorage, AK; Karen (Steve) Bakken, of York, PA; Kathy Fingalson, of Fairplay, Colorado; and Renee (Wallace) Danielson, of Callaway, MN; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; and fourteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace (1999); one son, Murray McCauley; two brothers, Chris Larson and Rodney Larson; and two sisters, Muzette Walz and Sue Worden.
