Genevieve E. Michaelson age 95 of Detroit Lakes, MN died September 24, 2016 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Genevieve Estelle Michaelson was born August 31, 1921 in South Shore, SD to Abraham and Bertha (Gunderson) Seveland. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1939. Following high school she worked as an executive secretary in Watertown , SD. On August 15, 1943 she was united in marriage to Roy Michaelson in Watertown. Because Roy was serving in the Army during WWII, their early years of marriage were spent living on various Army bases throughout the country. Following his discharge they made their home in Watertown until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1960. Genevieve worked at A &B Supply in Detroit Lakes and also served as the Area Director for the Campfire Girls of America. Genevieve was active in Ladies Circle at First Lutheran Church and was also active in the Republican Party. Her hobbies included playing bridge, bowling, camping, oil painting, and refinishing antique furniture. She is survived by one son, Rick (Kathy) Michaelson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; three daughters, Mary (Michael) Kelly, of Mobridge, SD; Kathy (Stuart) Omberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Karen (Lee) Omberg, of Perham, MN; eight grandchildren, Shawn (Michelle) Kelly, Ryan (Liza) Kelly, Mary (Eric) Rotter, Becky (Ryan) Johnson, Nick Omberg, Kris Swenson, Ben Omberg, and Karlee (Jake) Werner; thirteen great grandchildren, Madeline, Christopher, Logan-Roy, Shannan, Bridgid, Kate, Grace, Cole, Etta, Mason, Mya, Presley, and Alex; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy (1996); Infant son, Jerry; two brothers; five sisters; and her parents.
