Albert M. “Bert” Finch age 86 of Enderlin, ND formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 22, 2017 at the Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND. Albert Morris Finch was born August 4, 1930 in Alton, Illinois to Floyd and Helen (Kahl) Finch. He grew up and attended school in Alton, graduating from Alton High School in 1948. He then served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On December 11, 1954 he was united in marriage to Virginia Kohle in Alton, Illinois. They made their home in Milwaukee, where he studied engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Over the years he worked for various companies as a mechanical engineer in Milwaukee, St. Louis, and Minneapolis. He retired in 1990 and they moved to Cotton Lake near Detroit Lakes. Shortly after Virginia’s death he moved to Lilac Homes in Moorhead, MN. He has been a resident at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin since September of 2016. Bert enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, cutting wood, gardening, reading, and history. He was a member of the American Legion and the Farmer’s Market in Detroit Lakes. He was an active member of Bakke Lutheran Church, formerly serving as Council President and a member of the Men’s Bible Study. He was very proud of his family and the Navy. He is survived by one daughter, Linda (Wesley) Briggs, of Kindred, ND; one son, Jim (Julie) Finch, of St. Paul, MN; three grandchildren, Robert (Jessica) Briggs, Lori Briggs, and Jennifer Finch; four great grandchildren, Anthony, T.J., Kathryn, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (2011); one brother, Lester Gene Finch; and his parents. Funeral Services will be on Saturday February 25, 2017; 10:00 a.m. at the Bakke Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
