Jerold B. Moen, age 63 of Detroit Lakes, MN, died April 3, 2017. Jerold Bruce Moen was born May 7, 1953 in Fargo, ND to Richard and Marjorie (Olson) Moen. He grew up and received his education in Moorhead, MN graduating from Moorhead High School in 1971. While at Moorhead High, Jerry was a member of the All State Football team. In 1975, he graduated from Moorhead State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies. He taught in Warren, MN for one year. He was united in marriage to Cathy Wolden in Detroit Lakes, MN on June 2, 1979. They made their home in Detroit Lakes where he taught at Detroit Lakes High School and coached wrestling for nine years. Jerry worked for Becker County Human Services as a financial worker for over 20 years. He retired in 2015 due to health reasons. Jerry was the life of the party and could always tell a good joke. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and sports. He was an avid MN Twins fan. Jerry was an excellent cook. His family was very important to him. He especially loved traveling with Cathy. Jerry enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife Cathy, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Cari Bennett, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two grandchildren, Aidan and Gavin Bennett; two brothers, James (Marnee Brant) Moen, of Fargo, ND; and John (Peggy Hill) Moen, of Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Kay Moen and his parents. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, April 8, 2017; 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 7:30 PM at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
