Emily Gravalin

Emily K. Gravalin age 71 of Detroit Lakes, MN died July 20, 2017 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Emily Kay Gravalin was born December 16, 1945 in Fargo, ND to Harold and Emma Wangsness Gravalin. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN. She later moved to a group home in Hawley, MN, where she lived for seven years. In 1981 she moved to Detroit Lakes, where she lived in Lakes Homes on West Avenue for thirty six years. She has been a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home since March of this year. Emily worked at the D.A.C. in Detroit Lakes for many years. Emily enjoyed the Food Network, Country Music, Bingo, and attending worship services at Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel. She also loved spending time with family at the cabin on Twin Lake. She is survived by her mother, Emma Gravalin, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one sister, Ann (Chuck) Schwede, of Cannon Falls, MN; four brothers, Alan (Nicki) Gravalin, of Moorhead, MN; Tom (Linda) Gravalin, of Fosston, MN; Bruce (Karen) Gravalin, of Nevis, MN; and Jim (Mary) Gravalin, of Perham, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Gravalin. Memorial Services will be on Friday July 28, 2017; 2:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
