Barbara Craft was born on August 27, 1941 in Perham, MN to Genevieve and Seth Craft. She had two brothers and a younger sister. They lived in California briefly and later returned to live in the Vergas area, where they lived in a rustic log cabin. After graduating from Frazee High School, she was united in marriage to Arnold Warnke. They were blessed with three girls and Barb stayed home on an eighty acre hobby farm with them until they were all in school. She worked from home doing alterations and sewing. She also learned how to do home improvement projects. With the help of two contractors, she designed and built a new home on the property. She then began working for Peoples Natural Gas and got a promotion to work as the Manager of their office in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The company became Enron and Barb got a promotion to work as a scientist in the research center in Omaha, NE. She then decided to move to Denver, CO where two of her daughters were living. Barb worked at various jobs until she became the Manager of the One Call Center for the state of Colorado. She later decided that small town living was once again calling her, and she moved back to Detroit Lakes. She became an avid quilter and furniture builder as well as quite the Handywoman…she had spent the last few years in assisted living and developed pneumonia in July and passed in the presence of her three daughters in her room. She will be missed dearly.
