Brant Robert Beeson – a friend & colleague, a father & grandfather, and a loving & devoted husband – died peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home just outside of Detroit Lakes, MN on the evening of Saturday, August 8th, 2020. He was 68 years old.
Born on December 28th, 1951 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Ruth and Leslie Beeson, Brant spent his formative years growing up in Northern Minnesota, where he would later return to spend the rest of his life raising a family with his wife, Paulette. Brant graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1969. He went on to attend Moorhead State University for two years, prior to earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. In 1975 he was awarded his Juris Doctorate from the Hamline University School of Law.
Brant spent over 40 years in his legal career, and despite the idea of how much lawyers like to talk, he was a man of few words and was often described as “nice and honest”. Unlike many people, he enjoyed and took pride in what he did for a living and continued to work until his last days. He was highly regarded in the community and neighborhood he called home for the last 36 years.
Brant was a quiet, yet a very passionate, man. You could often find him on the sunporch of his Detroit Lakes home sitting back, enjoying the summer breeze and playing his guitar. He loved his music, his family and friends, traveling and spending time at the cabin. He was always there when he was needed with a loving embrace and a listening ear. His passion for spending time with family and enjoying life were easily seen and will never be forgotten.
Brant Beeson loved his wife, Paulette, deeply and eternally. From the moment he met her, until the very end, they were soulmates. They raised a family of four children, two girls and two boys, and were blessed later with a life surrounded by the joys of grandchildren. He loved his children and grandchildren, at times almost to a fault. He worried endlessly about them and did everything he could to make sure they were always taken care of and cared for. He was able to spend his final days in the company of his loved ones and share in their goodbyes. Amongst his last words to Paulette were that she was “his angel”. She was, is, and always will be. Brant and Paulette were married for 46 wonderful years.
He is survived by: Wife, Paulette (Lien) Beeson; Daughter & Son-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) & Chuck Hermanson (Detroit Lakes); Son & Daughter-in-law, Richard (Ricky) & Jennifer Beeson (Detroit Lakes); Daughter and Son-in-law, Joanna & Adam Olson (Glyndon); and Son Michael (Mike) Beeson (Detroit Lakes). He is also survived by his Mother, Ruth (Hendershot) Beeson (Anna Maria Island, FL), his 2 older brothers, Larry Beeson (Highlands Ranch, CO) & Craig Beeson (Anna Maria Island, FL), his younger brother, Robert (Rob) Beeson (Burnsville, MN), and his seven Grandchildren, Kaiden & Hailey Olson (Glyndon); Avery, Lauren & Nolan Klabunde (Detroit Lakes); Alex Olson (Edina); and Tyler Hermanson (Detroit Lakes). Brant was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Beeson.
Brant was a man like no other, and he will live on in the hearts and memories of many.
