Daniel Wade Leu was born on March 4, 1959, to Evelyn (Cogger) Leu and Floyd Leu in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was part of a baker’s dozen family who was raised in the Strawberry Lake area. In his younger years Dan attended the White Earth Mission, Strawberry Lake County School and later attending Detroit Lakes High School, receiving his diploma in 1979. Dan also attended the Detroit Lakes Vocational Tech College for Carpentry. Most of Dan’s working career was in carpentry. His Passions were hunting, fishing, trapping, working in the garden, and finding value in old junk to take in for scrap. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Daniel enjoyed playing cards with friends and family over a cup of coffee and crumpets, he loved to read, and trying his luck with a few scratch-offs. Dan was united in marriage to Avis Kellerhuis on November 3, 1991, in Puyallup, Washington, and later divorced. Dan also welcomed two children into his life: Tyler in 1987 and Melissa in 1992. Dan and Avis made their home in rural Richwood, MN. Daniel had many dogs throughout his life, and they all loved him.
Daniel is survived by his children: Melissa and Tyler (Amanda), his grandchildren: Wade, Alexander, Benjamin, and Theodore. His siblings: Beverly (Bud) Carlson, Darlene (Curt) Ballard, Evelyn Moore, Patti (Phil) Stalberger, Terry (Ellen) Leu, Pamela Lehmann, Michael (Lucille) Leu.
Proceeding Daniel in death are his parents Evelyn and Floyd, siblings Ronnie, Carol, Sharon, Kenny and Dean, and special cousins Pete Lasker and Dennis Carlson.
