Dennis Dean Dovre, 78, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 19, 2023 after suffering from a massive stroke. Dennis was born on June 27, 1944 to Conrad and Alice (Erickson) Dovre in Tacoma, WA.
Dennis graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1962. He was enlisted in the US Navy from 1963 -1967. Dennis was incredibly proud to have been of service to his country. In 1964, he met the love of his life, Linda Johnson. They were married on September 15, 1965 in East Grand Forks, MN. Together they raised two children, Brent and Tonya. After leaving the Navy, they moved to Washington where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. In 1974, they moved back to Detroit Lakes and Dennis worked for a short time as a carpenter. They bought the family farm in 1976 and he began his career as a farmer. He retired from his own farm in 2014, but in the meantime, he started working for BGR Dairy in 2008. The people at BGR Dairy quickly became a second family to them and Dennis continued working for the dairy until the day before his stroke. In his time away from work, he enjoyed playing cards, dancing, Sudoku and watching FOX News.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda, and their two children: Brent (Kim) Dovre of Carver, MN, and Tonya (Graig) Burt of Aitkin, MN.
