Donald Duane Bruhn

Donald D. Bruhn age 88 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 14, 2023, at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.

Donald Duane Bruhn was born June 5, 1935, in Glenwood, MN to John and Henrietta (Antonsen) Bruhn. As a young boy his family moved to a farm near Vergas, MN. He attended school in Frazee, MN. He then served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1956. On November 10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Fern Rindy in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes. Donald worked as a truck driver most of his life, and also worked with the Detroit Lakes Police Dept. and the Becker County Sheriffs Dept.

He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and served on the Color Guard for many years. He was a grateful member of AA and had many years of sobriety. Don loved to laugh and hear others laugh.

He is survived by one son, Rocky (Donna) Bruhn, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Kim (Greg) Baumler, of W. Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Taylor (Brady Andersen) Baumler, Kacie Baumler, Alexandra Baumler, Amber (Chace) Conley, and Anthony (Kalli) Bruhn; four great grandchildren, Jett, Bentley, Decker, and Beckham; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern; four sisters, Edna, Mildred, Lillian, and Marlys; one brother, Roy; and his parents.

Funeral Services will be on Friday October 20, 2023; 2:00 p.m. at the Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Bakke Lutheran Church Cemetery.
