Donna Mae Hanson of Height of Land passed away at the age of 82 at the Greenwood Nursing Home, Menahga, Minnesota on the 19th of September 2018. Donna was born in Perham to Charles and Bertha Turnbull. Donna attended Frazee High School through the 9th grade. Donna married Lawrence Hanson 11-15-52. Which happened to be during the deer hunting season! Donna and her husband Lawrence owned and operated Hansons FlyWay on Height of Land Lake and raised five children while doing so. After selling the FlyWay, Donna was employed by Mahube. First as a cab driver and then as a driver for the Headstart program in Detroit Lakes. One of Donna’s proudest moments was getting her GED diploma while working at Headstart. Donna had many interests which included quilting, knitting and crocheting to mention a few. Her perennial flower gardens were her pride and joy and she enjoyed showing them off. She also enjoyed canning and baking bread with her husband Lawrence. Surviving Donna are her children: Deb Seaberg (Todd), Oliver Hanson (Carol), Louise Hanson, Jeff Hanson and Heather Heikkila (Tom); six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild; Donna’s brother Duke Turnbull (Susie). Donna was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents, and brothers Bobby and David Turnbull. A memorial service and a celebration of Donna’s life will be held at West-Kjos Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 25th at 3:00pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
