Evelyn A. Burk

Evelyn A. Burk age 86 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 3, 2018 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Evelyn Adelia Burk was born December 14, 1931 in rural Ogema, MN to Carl and Bertha (Heikkinen) Burk. She graduated from Waubun High School and shortly after taught in a Country School near her home. She later attended nursing school in Thief River Falls, MN, where she earned her LPN Degree. She moved to Minneapolis and worked at the University of Minnesota Hospital until later moving back to Ogema to care for her family. She moved into Detroit Lakes in 2012. Evelyn wintered in Mission, Texas for several years. Evelyn’s church was a very important part of her life. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran in Ogema, MN, where she was active in teaching confirmation, printing bulletins, and working with youth groups. She was instrumental in working with the St. John’s Youth Group that annually came on their White Earth mission trips. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Warren Burk and Carl Burk.
