Francis “Jerry” Boelter Age 88, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on February 20, 2019. Francis Gerald Boelter was born on April 6th, 1930 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Meyer) Boelter. He grew up in Jamestown, Stark, and McClusky where is graduated from high school. Jerry joined the Navy following graduation. Jerry began his career training as an electrician in the navy during the Korean War serving on the USS Putnam and the Coral Sea. Jerry graduated from Wahpeton School of Science with an electrical degree. He greatly enjoyed working for 30+ years as an electrician for the Western Area Power Administration. On July 1st, 1956, Jerry married his sweetheart Bertha Herr who became his partner and soulmate for 54 years. To this union 5 daughters were born. Over the years they made their home in Bismarck, Riverdale, West Fargo, Pelican Rapids and Detroit Lakes. Jerry’s passions included his family, friends, hunting, fishing, and his faith. Jerry also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and travelling through the years. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Holly (Mitchell) Oxandaboure, Peggy (Tom) Novak, Kathy Boelter, Mary (Art) Peterson, Joan (Nate) Lewis, his 9 grandchildren, Joshua Peterson, Micky Walz, Kayla Grosz, Matthew Peterson, Frances Tingsley, Michael Walz, Anna Wilson, Katie Grosz, and Sienna Lewis; and 7 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Bertha; his granddaughter, Jennifer; and his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Boelter from McClusky, ND.
