Freeman Wuollet

Freeman V. Wuollet age 75 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 29, 2023, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Freeman Wuollet was born July 22, 1948, in Park Rapids, MN to Verdie and Thelma (Grangruth) Wuollet. He grew up and received his education in Menahga, MN. He served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1966 – 1970. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and the Air Metal. In 1967 he married Doreen Kimball. They made their home in Menahga and Freeman worked as an over the road truck driver. In 1980 he married Jane Dombeck. They made their home in Staples, MN, where he worked as a railroad engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad. They moved to the Cormorant area of rural Lake Park, MN in 1989. He retired from the railroad in 2000. He then worked for Driveway Services of Detroit Lakes for many years.

Freeman enjoyed golf, ice fishing, watching westerns, and building elaborate fish houses and trailers. Spending time with family and friends was very important to him.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; four sons, Kenneth (Kim) Wuollet, of Browerville, MN; Darin (Kari) Wuollet, of Dilworth, MN; Justin (Christina) Wuollet, of Audubon, MN; and Ryan (Bridget) Wuollet, of Fargo, ND; three daughters, Traci (Wayne) Tarnasky, of Moorhead, MN; Kim (Clay) Montella, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Brianna Wuollet, of Grand Forks, ND; twenty seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven brothers, Jerry, Ronald, Bruce, Kelly, Brian, Tim, and Bob; three sisters, Dolly, Connie, and Berta; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Redemske; two brothers, George and Gary; and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday November 4, 2023; 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park, MN. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Perham, MN.
