Gary LeRoy Lehmann was born December 25, 1935 in Britton, South Dakota, the son of Clarence and Verna (Weber) Lehmann. He passed away February 7, 2019 at the Frazee Care Center. Gary grew up in Britton, SD and later attended Lake Benton high school. Gary moved to the Detroit Lakes area in the 1950’s and later to Island Lake to begin a career in farming. He started as a tree farmer. Later shifting towards ranching a variety of animals anywhere from sheep, beef, dairy cows, pigs, and even a few mink. While recovering from a back injury, Gary spent weekdays in Minneapolis for physical therapy and attended college to become an x-ray and lab technician, returning to the farm on the weekends. He returned to the Detroit Lakes area and worked on the White Earth Reservation and surrounding areas as an x-ray and lab tech. Gary returned to farming concentrating mainly on raising mink. He retired from farming and began raising German Shepard dogs. He was a true conservationist that enjoyed nature and spending time outdoors. Gary liked to play cards and go hunting. Gary is survived by his children: Dyann Foster, Renee Lehmann, Donna Lehr, Deborah Sullivan, Cindy Lehmann, Angel Keck, Leanna Lehmann, Gary Lehmann Jr, Juanhondo Lehmann; siblings: Sharon (Robert) Britt; Larry (Darlene) Hynding; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Verna Lehmann.
