Geraldine “Gerrie” Bunniss 88, formally of Audubon, MN, passed away on Friday, May 17, at the Frazee Care Center. Geraldine “Gerrie” Nye was born on August 23, 1930 in Browns Valley, MN to Clayton and Gertrude (Neiland) Nye. She was raised in Browns Valley and educated in Morris, MN. After high school, Gerrie moved to Audubon in 1952 and started raising a family. She enjoyed life on the farm and loved having horses and her favorite cats. She enjoyed the outdoors and tending to her huge garden and sharing her produce with family and friends. Gerrie was known as a great cook and enjoyed preparing large meals for her family. After serving a large meal, left overs would be sent home with each family member. Gerrie was also famous for her homemade fudge and would make batches of fudge for the family and co-workers. Gerrie worked at various restaurants as a cook or waitress in the area. She worked for over 20 years at Bunnell’s; she also worked for Lakeside, Swinging Door, and the Speak Easy from which she retired in 2014. Gerrie enjoyed shopping and always loved a deal. If it was on sale, she was known to pick up a few extra of that item. She also enjoyed playing pool and having a cold beer. Gerrie will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. Her family could always depend on her and trust that she would give her honest opinion. Gerrie is survived by her children: Elton (Lori) Jorschumb, Betty (Gordon) Johnson, Kathie Daak, Randy (Kathy)Jorschumb; brother Larry Nye; sister Sylvia McCurdy; eight grandkids, 19 great-grandkids, and two great great grandkids. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Glenn Bunniss; son Paul Jorschumb; and brother Clayton Nye.
