Hope "Hopey" Elaine Jacobson (née Gunderson), formerly of Audubon, Minnesota, was born on February 14, 1936, in Dilworth, Minnesota. She passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025 surrounded by family, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, just shy of her 89th birthday. Her life was a radiant testament to love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family.
She spent her early years in Dilworth, MN. After she graduated high school in 1954, she married and had her two children, Cyndi and Rand. After her first marriage she moved with her children to Audubon,MN and met and fell in love with Layden Jacobson. They married shortly thereafter enjoying nearly 57 years together. She enjoyed the times she and Layden had the grandchildren over for the many sleep overs, camping trips and other excursions.
Hope loved gardening, decorating for holidays especially Christmas and multiple creative pursuits. Her heart overflowed with kindness for both people and animals alike. Hope’s beloved pets were constant companions throughout her life; most recently her treasured pup Daisy and precious kitty Sophie brought joy to her days. They are surely awaiting her at the rainbow bridge. When her family was asked to describe Hope they came up with feisty, genuine, creative, resiliant, compassionant, artistic, determined, proud, caring and protective. Anyone who knew her could not dispute those descriptions.
Hope is survived by her devoted husband, Layden Jacobson of Detroit Lakes; her daughter Cyndi Qualley (Greg) of Lake Park, Minnesota; and her son Rand Allrich (Mark Bayer) of Fargo, North Dakota. She was the proud grandmother to Amy Rosing (Jason) of Audubon, Minnesota; Lacy Fuglesten (Kyle) of Newnan, Georgia; Kayla Jones (Sam) of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Katie Fuller (Joe) of Fargo,ND. Hope’s legacy also extends to her seven cherished great-grandchildren: Jacob, Myah, Cole, Kennedy, Isaac, Lucas, and Max.
Hope's presence illuminated every room she entered. May we find solace in knowing that her light continues to shine brightly through the lives she so deeply influenced.
