James B. Sauer, 84, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on September 7, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Jim was born in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He was a graduate of Detroit Lakes High School, Moorhead State University and also attended Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio. In addition, he was a member of the National Guard.
On September 3, 1966, Jim married Phyllis Panter. They were married 55 years.
Jim was a math teacher at Rosemount High School in Rosemount, Minnesota for 34 years and found great joy in being the Head Boys Track Coach for 33 years. He loved farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters Wendy Roche and Tana (Tim) Smith, his grandchildren Kyle Roche and Sophia Roche, his sister Becky (James) Ratz, many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Leone, and son in-law Kevin Roche.
