Judith Kohout age 85 of Lake Park, MN died February 9, 2025, at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Judith Kohout was born September 23, 1939, in Neche, ND to Fredrich and Tillie (Saiger) Carter. She started her education in Bathgate, ND. The family later moved to Crookston, MN, where Judy finished her education, graduating from Crookston High School. In 1957 she was united in marriage to Miles Kohout in Crookston. Over the years they made their home and raised their children in Crookston, Moorhead, and Richfield MN, as well as Milbank, SD. In 1978 they moved to Lake Ida in rural Lake Park, MN.
Judy was naturally talented and creative and was mostly known for her beautiful Pine Needle Basketry. She worked out of her own Art Studio and also taught and held seminars on her Basketry. She sold her art in numerous Art Shows and Consignment Shops in the area for many years. She was a Cormorant Art Club member, enjoyed Church quilting, and had belonged to a Woodcarvers Club. She was also an avid flower and vegetable gardener, who was also known as an excellent cook and baker. She was a kind, generous, and giving woman. Her Church and her faith were very important to her.
She is survived by two daughters, Kim Zimmer, of West Fargo, ND; and Kris (Bruce) Quackenbush, of Chokio, MN; one son, Kraig Kohout, of Wahpeton, ND; six grandchildren, Derrick, Jamie, Eric, Corey, Carly, and Crystal; three great grandchildren, Makaylah, Nathaniel, and Carson; one brother, Dale Johnson, of Burnsville, MN; one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Miles, and her parents.
