Julian (Jay) Lee Qualley, age 50, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Jay was born October 11, 1968 to Julian and Jean (Iverson) Qualley in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jay attended school in the Lake Park area and graduated from school in Audubon. Jay was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Lake Park, MN. Jay lived in Fergus Falls and Fargo before spending many years in Duluth. He cherished the friends he made in Duluth and kept in touch with them after moving to Detroit Lakes. He enjoyed fishing and especially looked forward to cheering on the Twins and Vikings. Jay collected movies and spent countless hours watching those he collected. Jay especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His generosity was shown to others through the gifts he gave. Jay is survived by his daughter Madison; father Julian (Marie) Qualley of Detroit Lakes; siblings Jeff Qualley of Groton, Connecticut, Jerry (Dawn) Qualley of Detroit Lakes, Michelle (Dave) Dickinson of Milnor, North Dakota, and Jon Qualley of Fargo; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Qualley; grandparents Fred and Marcella Iverson, Neil and Tilda Qualley and Maurice and Hulda Enget; uncles Henry Olson and Howard Olson.
