Karsten Truman Grundyson

Karsten T. Grundyson age 82 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 20, 2023 at his residence, under the care of Hospice.

Karsten Truman Grundyson was born March 25, 1940 at home in rural McIntosh, MN to Oswald and Ida (Neset) Grundyson. He grew up and received his education in McIntosh, graduating from McIntosh High School in 1959. He then attended Bemidji State University and later the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. It was also during this time that he served in the Minnesota Army National Guard. On September 8, 1963 he was united in marriage to JoAnn Gunderson in Buxton, ND. They farmed near Buxton until 1978 when they moved to Detroit Lakes. Karsten farmed near McIntosh and also drove truck for Daggett Trucking of Frazee, MN. Karsten and JoAnn were active foster parents for over twenty years.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn; five sons, Kye (Leanne) Grundyson, of Sebeka, MN; Ross (Julie) Grundyson, of Kansas City, MO; Joe Erickson, of Kansas City, MO; Nick (AnnaLea) Grundyson, of Park Rapids, MN; and Matt (Angela) Grundyson, of Ocoee, FL; six daughters, Darci (Mike) Ringen, of San Antonio, TX; Heidi (Karl) Hantho, of Salem, NJ; Cindy (Ed) Kawlewski, of Vergas, MN; Kristi (Jose) Nunez, of Austin, MN; Cathy Thompson, of Missouri; and Martha (Matt) Erickson, of Mpls, MN; thirty grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, David (Janet) Grundyson, of Park Rapids, MN; and one sister, Lavonne (Tim) Moon, of South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rachel Hunt; and one granddaughter, Anna Erickson.

Funeral Services will be on Monday February 27, 2023; 1:00 p.m. at Community Alliance Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
