Lester "Sonny" Alfred Hanson

Lester Alfred Hanson, Jr., “Sonny” was born on December 27, 1941, to Lester Alfred Hanson Sr. and Susanna Olive (Eid) Hanson of Big Toad Lake, Osage, Minnesota. He was raised farming and attended a country schoolhouse near Big Toad Mountain. After school, he worked for the railroad for a short time and also bailed shavings in Osage. He then worked for Driveway Service in Detroit Lakes, hauling asphalt and gravel until retirement. 

He married Barbara George on April 19, 1969. They had two children, Gerald “Jerry” and Joseph “Joe”. Sonny had a perpetual garage sale every week-end. He loved to visit with people and loved to go to auctions and listen to Swap and Shop every day on the radio, and would sometimes call in.

He is survived by his sons; Jerry (Donna), and Joe (Dawn); his 4 grandchildren; Annie, Lexi, Keela and Otto, and great-grandchildren; Bo and Ember, his siblings; Carl Hanson, Larry (Delphine) Hanson, Bobby Hanson and Mary Ann (Russ) Karasch.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother James and infant sister Kathleen.
