Mabel Jane Blauert, daughter of William and Ida Sandau was born March 27, 1931 at the Frazee Hospital in Frazee, Minnesota, Becker County. She was baptized as a child of God and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church in Vergas, Minnesota. Mabel graduated from Frazee-Vergas High School. While waiting Vernon’s return from the service, Mabel worked as a cashier in the grocery store. On October 3, 1954, Mabel was united in marriage with Vernon John Blauert at St John’s Lutheran Church in Vergas. Mabel helped operate the family farm where she raised their four children and taught them to trust in the Lord. In her free time, Mabel enjoyed sewing, knitting, canning, reading the Bible and staying in touch with others. Mabel was loving and passionately cared for by the nurses and staff at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home throughout her time on the unit and the Hospice staff during her final hours. On Thursday, December 27, 2018 Mabel Jane Blauert was called home to her Lord from Ecumen Memory Care Unit of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Mabel is preceded in death by her loving husband Vernon J Blauert; her parents William and Ida Sandau; one brother Walter Sandau; three nieces Charleen, Janice, Susan; and one nephew Loran. Father and Mother-in-law Frank and Anna K Blauert; four sisters-in-law Shirley, Judith, Ramona and Sharon; and two brothers-in-law; Leonard and George. Mabel is survived by her two sons Roger (Kathy) Blauert of Elk River, Minnesota and Robert (Shelly) Blauert of Dent, Minnesota; and her two daughters Verlene (Brian McLeod) Genoch of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Merlene (Mark) Hesse of Sebeka, Minnesota; six loving grandchildren Richard (Stephanie Myrick) Blauert, ReNaye (Gannon) VanDam, Leticia (Grant) Kiehl, Matthew Blauert, Mitchell Hesse and Michaela (Ryan) Johnson; three great grandchildren Jaiden, Ava and Alexander; one sister-in-law Bernie Sandau of Edgeley, North Dakota; and one brother-in-law Bill May of Wadena, Minnesota. She will be missed by many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday January 2, 2019; 11:00 a.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church Height of Land Twp, MN. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in the St John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Height of Land Twp, MN.
