Marilyn M. Weiler, age 88 of Lake Elmo, MN formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died July 28, 2024, at Arbor Glen Senior Living in Lake Elmo.
Marilyn Mae Weiler was born March 20, 1936, in Edgeley, ND to Fred and Christina (Burkle) Buerkley. She was baptized August 2, 1936, in Kulm, ND. She grew up and attended school in Kulm, graduating from Kulm High School in 1954. Marilyn helped on the family farm and also worked as a nursing assistant in Jamestown, ND. On October 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Howard F. Weiler in Kulm, ND. They made their home in Moorhead MN until in 1966 when they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where they raised their family. Later Marilyn worked in Food Service for the Detroit Lakes School System. She moved to Lake Elmo in 2017.
Marilyn was active at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes and also an auxiliary member of the American Legion. Marilyn loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed weekends at the family lake cabin fishing, gardening and canning. She was also an excellent cook, baker and quilter. She and Howard enjoyed traveling to in all fifty states as well as many countries.
Marilyn is survived by one daughter, Peg (Randy) West, of Stillwater, MN; one son, Jim (Judy) Weiler, of Chisago City, MN; six grandchildren, Tyler (Melissa) Woodward, Michael (Laura) Woodward, Robert (Veronica) Woodward, Jenna (Ken) Befus, Lauren (Jake) Hayes, and Evan (Madeline Hallberg) Weiler; six great grandchildren, Alexander, Jeremiah, Miller and Monroe Woodward, August Hayes and Ruth Befus; one sister, Vivian Heidinger; and one brother, Fred (Sophie) Buerkley Jr.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her Husband Howard F Weiler, her son, Howie Weiler; one sister Lucille (Melvin) Walker; five brothers Robert (Ruth) Buerkley, Palmer (Ella) Buerkley, Herbert (Alice) Buerkley, Floyd (Lois) Buerkley; and her parents.
