Marlyn Eugene Rislund

Marlyn E. Rislund age 89 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 4, 2019 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Marlyn Eugene Rislund was born November 17, 1929 in rural Audubon, MN to Richard and Alice (Pederson) Rislund. He grew up and attended District 78 Country School in Lake Eunice Township. He worked on the family farm as a young man. He served in the National Guard from 1950 – 1952. Marly did carpentry work his entire life and built many homes in the area. Marly enjoyed country music and spent many hours tinkering and fixing things in his shop. He served as the sexton of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery for many years. He was also active in the Cormorant Sportsman’s Club, where he built many Bluebird, Wood Duck and Bat Houses. He was also active in the Becker County Historical Society, spending countless hours volunteering at the museum. He is survived by two sisters, Kelly Eilertson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Luaine (John) Warling, of Lake Park, MN; eight nieces and nephews, Michael (Judy) Eilertson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Shelley (David) Prentice, of Lake Park, MN; Cindy (Todd) Green, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Stephanie (David) Busack, of Andover, MN; Jen (Troy) Goering, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kristin (Marty) Severson, of Fargo, ND; Tony (Salena) Warling, of Lake Park, MN; and Denise (Tom) Taylor, of Kenmore, WA; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard L. Rislund; and his parents. Memorial Services will be on Saturday February 9, 2019; 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in rural Audubon, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes, MN.
