Mary Ellen Ault

Mary E. (Pierce) Ault died peacefully December 2, 2024, in her Munson Lake home, surrounded by family. Mary is the daughter of Henry and Maude Pierce.

Born in Pierson, Iowa January 23, 1933. When Mary was four the family moved to Rural Verndale, MN, where she grew up on the family farm.

Mary graduated from Wadena High School in 1951. She graduated from the Nursing Program of the Charles T. Miller Private Hospital, St. Paul MN. With her LPN degree where she went on to work there. Mary also worked at Wadena hospital, Ear, Nose and Throat hospital in Washington, DC, The Benson hospital where she met her future husband John E. Ault. Mary also worked at Morris, MN and Detroit Lakes, MN hospitals.

April 12, 1958, Mary married John “Jack” Ault and began raising her family.

Mary loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, she also enjoyed reading, bird watching and sewing.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Henry Pierce, Maude (Taylor) Pierce. Husband John “Jack” Ault, sister Elizabeth (Pierce) Schmidt, brother Gilbert Pierce.

Mary is survived by her three sons, Todd Ault of Detroit Lakes, Barry Ault of Cumberland, WI, Kyle (Mary) Ault of Two Harbors, MN.

Six grandchildren Jade, Jack, Kannon, Colin, Trevor, Kendra. Five great grandchildren Maxwell, Matthew, Benson, Ellen, Ewan. 

Four brothers James Pierce of Rush City, MN, Bruce (Gayle) of Two Harbors, MN, Earl Pierce of Soldotna, AK, Alvin (Martha) Pierce of Soldotna, AK and brother-in-law Jim Ault of Hopkins, MN. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary was cherished by her family and will be greatly missed.

The Ault family would like to thank Mary's neighbors for their help over the years, Hospice of Red River Valley for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
