Myrna Ruth Mears

Myrna Mears, 81, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Emmanuel Nursing Home. Myrna Ruth Shepard was born on January 30, 1939 to Wayne and Irma (Bantz) Shepard, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was raised and lived most of her life In Detroit Lakes. Myrna graduated from Detroit Lakes High School with the class of 1956. She owned the Swinging Door Bar for a number of years before owning Northland Security with her husband Jack Mears. After the couple divorced, she owned her own cleaning business until retirement. Myrna loved restoring antiques, playing cards, bowling, gardening, and watching the birds from her window. She is survived by her children Rory (Martha) Hanson, William (Jan) Spry, Amy (Joe) Hoffman, and Brice (Jordyn) Mears; grandchildren Andrea, Mason, Nicholas, Jack, Nolyn, and Piper; three great-grandchildren; sister Donna Jordan; brothers David (Karen) Shepard, and Lyle (Denise) Shepard. Myrna is preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Irma; and grandson Matthew Hanson.
