Ordean E. Honrud went to live with Jesus on February 6, 2024, at the age of 85. At the time of his death, he was residing at Oak Crossing Nursing Home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Ordean was born March 15, 1938, on a farm near Rollag, MN to Orville and Mildred (Evenson) Honrud. He attended country school and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1957. He worked at Pearson Candy Company in Minneapolis and on a farm near Pelican Rapids for about four years. He enlisted in the US Army on February 21, 1961, and served two years in the Infantry at Fort Benning, GA. He then returned to Minnesota and served four years in the Army Reserves. He worked at Balmer Motors followed by Horvick Electric Motor in Moorhead.

He married Janell Sanden in the spring of 1964. They were blessed with two children, Deborah and Darren. Janell passed away in July of 1982.

In 1970, he became owner of Dean’s Electric Motor in Pelican Rapids, which he later moved to Fargo.

On May 27, 1988, he married Lynne Miller, and they resided in Fargo until 1996 when they moved to Long Lake near Vergas, Minnesota. Ordean then worked at Anderson Bus in Frazee as a school and coach bus driver. In 2012, the moved to Detroit Lakes.

Ordean loved hunting and fishing, as well at golfing, bowling, camping and many spectator sports. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.

Ordean is survived by his wife Lynne, his two children; Deborah Tibiatowski of Fargo and Darren (Mary) Honrud of West Fargo, two step-daughters; Kimberly (Jim) Sodergren of Central Islip, NY and Karla (Kelly) Mack of Edmore, ND, eleven grandchildren; Kenneth, Steven (Michelle) and Jamie Asplin; Colten, Brandon and Zachary Honrud; Kristine, Joseph and Jeremy Sodergren; Chance and Holden Mack, and seven great-grandchildren; Adyson and Oliver Asplin; Sheldon and Avery Asplin; Mya Asplin, Owen Thompson and Keagen Feist.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mavis Eggiman, brother-in-law Larry Eggiman, nephew Wayne Honrud and several aunts and uncles.

A Christian Funeral Service is to be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Visitation to be held at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Pelican Rapids in the summer of 2024.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or Oak Crossing Family Council.
