Roger H. Wolden, age 75, of Frazee, MN, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 21, 2018, at St. Mary’s Essentia Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Roger Harold Wolden was born on February 24, 1943 to Harold & Marian (Olson) Wolden in Detroit Lakes, MN. Roger went to school in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. As a child, he had his own horse and loved being outside with the animals. Roger was always up for an adventure. He loved going to the Casino with his family and friend, Rollie King. He loved visits to Lake Sallie with his family, Holiday gatherings, and visiting with his numerous friends and family. One of Roger’s favorite pastime was listening to the police scanner. Roger was a loyal Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He would listen to the games every chance he could get on the radio and TV. He was proud of being a Lifetime Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, MN, where he was baptized, confirmed and was one of the oldest members of the church. Roger will be most remembered for his kind heart and gentle soul. He always looked forward to upcoming events, no matter what they were. Due to Roger’s disability he had to live with others. He lived with Wally and Alicia Dorff, for over 30 years. He then lived with Glen and Beverly Roberts for the past 7 years. He became a part of their families and will be deeply missed. Roger is survived by his sisters: Cathy Moen, Mary (Denny) Mahoney, Linda (Don) Dorff; Nieces: Cari Bennett, MacKenzie Mahoney, Molly Mahoney, and Betsy Dorff; Great Nephews: Gavin and Aidan Bennett; and his niece’s noisy dog, Kevin. Preceding Roger in death were his parents; Sister: Sharilynn Wolden; Brother in-law: Jerry Moen; Grandparents: Jalmer and Alma Olson, Carmen and Bertha Wolden.Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date. West-Kjos Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
