Rosanne Genz

Rosanne (Notch) Genz, 87, Detroit Lakes, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Heritage Living Center of Park Rapids after a period of declining health.

Rosanne was born in Avon, MN on October 16, 1936, a daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Forner) Notch.  She attended area schools and was a graduate of Avon High School.  On October 1, 1955, Rosanne married Jerome “Jerry” Genz and together they raised six children. 

In 1972, they moved to Detroit Lakes where they owned and operated the Totem Pole Resort on Lake Melissa.  Many happy memories were made there before they retired in 2000.  Rosanne was a longtime, active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  She sang in the choir and was involved with the Christian Women and Catholic Daughters.  Rosanne also enjoyed gardening, painting and sewing.  In her earlier years, she played the piano, clarinet and the accordion. She also loved to cook; however, her greatest love was for her family.  She will be sadly missed.

Rosanne is survived by her husband, Jerry, of over 68 years; her children: Richard (Patty) Genz, Buffalo MN, Allan (Michelle) Genz, Park Rapids, MN, Roy (Julie) Genz, Dalton MN, Linda Sgambettera, Jacksonville FL, Laura Genz, Detroit Lakes MN, Jeffery (Lori) Genz, Detroit Lakes MN, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers Larry Notch, and Gerald (Sue) Notch; sisters in law: Kathy Notch and Marcie Roe; her brothers in law: Lloyd Opatz, and Dave Genz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Henry Notch, Leander Notch, Ronald Notch, her sister Dolores Opatz, her sisters in law: Sandy Notch, Flossie Notch, Patsy Genz, Rita (Claude) Reimann, and Sr. Mary Emmanuel.

The memorial visitation for Rosanne will be held on Friday January 19^th, 2024, from 12 noon to 12:45 pm at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH (1043 Lake Avenue, Detroit Lakes MN 56501). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 pm with Fr. Chuck Huck officiating. Final rest will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
