Rose Arlene (Quittschreiber) Wendt passed away on December 22, 2020 at home under Hospice of Red River Valley at the age of 83. Rose was born April 2, 1937 in Evergreen township, Becker County, Minnesota to Elmer and Clara Quittschreiber. Rose was baptized at St. Paul’s Evergreen Frazee, MN on May 6, 1937 and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Frazee, MN on May 20, 1951. Rose grew up in Silver Leaf Township attending country school at District 71 and Frazee High School, Class of 1955. While in school Rose worked at the Frazee school cafeteria and summers at Edgewater beach hotel for three years. After graduating Rose worked at the Detroit Lakes hospital and Kraus food store in Frazee.
Rose married Reuben Martin Wendt on October 21, 1956 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, MN. Reuben served in the U.S. Army for two years, then Rose and Reuben bought the family farm in 1959. Rose called herself the dairy maid until retiring in 1996. Rose and Reuben were paper carriers until Reuben passed away on April 2, 2003. Rose was a member of the Ladies Guild, Altar Guild, choir, Sunday School and V.B.S. teacher. Rose was an Organist for 25 years at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Height of Land. Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, decorative cakes, crocheting, reading, gardening, dancing, birdwatching, and traveling.
Rose is survived by her children; Anita (Roger) Schaefer, Linda (Melvin) Longfors, Daniel (Shurnell) Wendt and Viola Anderson, 15 grandchildren Rita, Ramon, Rebecca, Ryan, Renae and Rochelle; Nicholas, Mark and Lisabeth; Shanette, Aleah and Cory; Patricia, Joshua, and Jesse and 23 great grandchildren. Along with three sisters Donna Schwarzrock, Marian Wendt and Caroline (Donald) Schmidt. She is preceded in death by her husband Reuben Wendt, her parents Elmer and Clara Quittschreiber, granddaughter Melinda Longfors and brother-in-law’s Edward Schwarzrock and Roman Wendt.
