Shirley Ann Aasen

Shirley Ann Aasen, age 84, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

She was born on July 24, 1935 in Northfield, Minnesota to Charles and Esther Hruza. Shirley was confirmed in 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Moorhead. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1954. In 1958, Shirley joined Charles Aasen in marriage at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Shirley worked at Store Without a Name and Herbst, both in Fargo.

Shirley was a loving, caring beautiful lady. She will be remembered for her politeness and being a wonderful mom.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Tanya Ann (George) Polley of Bloomington, Minnesota, Tammy Jean Aasen of Farmington, Minnesota, Charles “Tim” Aasen of Lakeville, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Tyler Keenan of Bloomington, Hannah Keenan of Minneapolis, and Cody (Lydia) Aasen of Esko, Minnesota; one great granddaughter, Audrey Neva Aasen of Esko, Minnesota; sister, Carol Spichke of Fargo, North Dakota; brother, Tom Hruza of Armidale, Australia. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law Rich Spichke, Einar Kolnes and sisters-in-law Ann Kolnes and Margaret Hruza.

The family of Shirley would like to say Thank You to Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Emergency Room and ICU staff at Essentia, St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes and also to Dr. Kulasingham at Essentia Health Clinic.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, 900 Summit Ave, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
