Suzzanne Jean Jones, age 85, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley on September 2, 2023, at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Suzzanne was born on January 15, 1938, to Matt and Pearl (Grassman) Hornung in Chicago, IL. She grew up in the suburb of Harwood Heights and graduated from Steinmetz High School. In 1956, she married Henry A. Jones of Christian County, Kentucky and traveled with him during his naval career. They Lived in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, South Carolina and Midway Island. She moved to the Vergas area in 1975 and was employed by Erie, Jr., and the Fireside restaurants and later Floral Impressions. She raised and showed registered quarter horses for almost 40 years and was a member of the AQHA. She was an avid and talented amateur photographer. Suzzy was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, the LWML and the Guild Singers. She became a resident of Oak Crossing in 2021.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Danielson of Detroit Lakes; granddaughter Laura Danielson of Moorhead; son, Matt (Pam) Jones of Detroit Lakes; grandsons, Nathan, Nicholas, and Shawn Jones of Detroit Lakes, sisters; Elsie (Richard) Kramer of Illinois, Judy (Doyle) Cheatham of Missouri, and brother Ray (Helen) Hornung of Vergas. She is also survived by five nephews, godson William Cheatham of Lake Park, Larry Cheatham of Missouri, Russell Hornung of Illinois, Dan Kramer and James Kramer, both of Illinois, and a niece, Audrey Swang of rural Vergas.
Preceding Suzzanne in death are her parents, Matt and Pearl Hornung, her son-in-law Clint Danielson and three nephews.
