Vernette Elzada Olson

Vernette Elzada Olson age 77 of Height of Land Township went to be with the Lord on Monday November 4, 2024, peacefully at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND with her family by her side. 

Vernette Elzada Olson was born on February 07, 1947, at St Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN, the daughter of Vernon Sr. and Elzada Brogren. The second oldest of four children she was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes, MN, graduating from Detroit Lakes High school with the class of 1965. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN on May 6, 1962. On October 8, 1977, she was united in marriage to Darrell Duane Olson at Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN and they were blessed with two sons. They made their home in Height of Land Township. 

Vernette was a dedicated, fun, loving, and caring mom, grandmother and friend with a soft and quiet personality. She was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, and she was very thankful for her wonderful family and friends. In her free time some of the hobbies and activities she enjoyed doing was bird watching, dancing, gardening, canning, reading, crafting, attending family and friends’ gatherings, listening to country music, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and helping with different activities at Grace Lutheran Church. She had been employed at Bambi’s Resort on Toad Lake, Forum Communications in Detroit Lakes, MN and she was an Election Judge for Height of Land Township until her retirement.

Vernette is survived by her husband, Darrel Olson; Son, Justin (Missy) Olson of Frazee, MN; Brothers: Jim Sr. (Mary Ann) Brogren of Detroit Lakes, MN; Vernon Jr. “Butch” (Karla) Brogren of Detroit Lakes, MN; Jerry (Late Toni) Brogren of Detroit Lakes, MN; Brother in Law Larry (Laurie) Olson of Detroit Lakes, sister in-law Laurie Olson of Washington; Nephews: Jim Brogren Jr., Brian Brogren, Shannon (Teresa) Brogren, Jason (Arlene) Brogren, Corey (Angie) Brogren, Bob (Shelly) Brogren, John Worden and Scott Worden; Ross and Ryan Olson; Niece: Kristi (Jeff) Schlauderaff, Grandchildren: Alex Olson (Paige), Carli Olson, William Olson, Elizabeth Olson, Stetson Olson, Rice Olson; Great Grand Child: Wren Olson and many Cousins. 

Vernette was proceeded in death by her son Jared Olson; her parents Vernon Sr. and Elzada (Fagerlie) Brogren, Sister-in-Law Toni Brogren. Father-in-Law Clarence Olson; Mother-in-Law Laverne (Wothe) Olson.
