Walter W. Snyder age 68 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 12, 2022 at Eccumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Walter William Snyder was born on May 10, 1953 in Washington D. C. to Merwin and Eleanor (Taylor) Snyder. Because his father was in the Air Force Wally lived in various different places as a young boy, including Tripoli, Spain, Ohio and Minneapolis. His family moved to Pickerel Lake, near Detroit Lakes in 1962. Wally attended school in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1971. He then attended Moorhead State University, graduating with a business and Marketing degree in 1975. In 1982 he was united in marriage to Carleen Molden. They made their home in West Fargo, ND. In 1990 they moved to his home place on Pickerel Lake, and in 2005 moved to Little Sugarbush lake. Over the years Wally worked for American Linen and Charlestown Power, until his health forced him to retire.
Wally was a born Salesman. Even after he retired he continued to buy and sell things. He enjoyed the art of the deal. He also enjoyed tinkering and trying to fix things. Other things that he liked included, hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching the Twins and Vikings, and his dogs. One of his favorite quotes was simply “It’s fine.”
He is survived by his wife Carleen; one daughter, Cara (Nicholas) Olek, of Pelican Rapids, MN; two sons, Tyson (Kristina) Snyder, of Gypsum, CO; and Trent (Kaddie) Snyder, of Lake Park, MN; three grandchildren, Maddison, Carson, Daxstyn, and Archer; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a half brother, Paul Vogel.
