William C. “Bill” McCaslin age 71 of Callaway, MN died April 2, 2018 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. William Clarence McCaslin was born July 29, 1946 in Wahoo, Nebraska to Robert and Frances (Wollen) McCaslin. The family moved to a farm near Callaway, MN in 1947. Bill attended the Pelican Valley Country School near his home and later attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1964. Bill farmed with his brothers his entire life. On August 21, 1987 he was united in marriage to Julie Fingalson in Callaway, MN. Bill was a real people person. He enjoyed visiting with everyone. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and kept an immaculate lawn. He traveled to Montana for many years Elk and Deer hunting. He was active in his church and also served on the Richwood Township Board for twenty four years. He was a devoted husband to his wife Julie, was also a very loving father and enjoyed being a grandpa. Bill is survived by his wife, Julie; one daughter, Jody Wiirre, of Hawley, MN; four sons, Scott (Liza) McCaslin, of Callaway, MN; Jeremy Kohler, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Troy (Skye) Fingalson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Joey Fingalson, of Rochert, MN; eight grandchildren, Tim (Brandy) Lee, Bryan Lee, Nash and Rylan McCaslin, Taylor Kohler, Jack Jordan, and Prim and Titan Fingalson; one great granddaughter, Airreonna Lee; two brothers, Robert (Carol) McCaslin, of Audubon, MN; and Tim McCaslin, of Callaway, MN; two sisters, Carol (Jerry) Musburger, of Sauk Centre, MN; and Shirley (John Peterson) McCaslin, of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Donald McCaslin; and his parents. Funeral Services will be on Saturday April 7, 2018; 11:00 a.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Callaway, MN. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Richwood Lutheran Cemetery, Richwood Township, MN.
