Winifred Marie was born June 30, 1917 in Richwood Township on a farm near Bakke Church to Peter and Winifred Walberg. She went to country school and then graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1933. In 1938 Winifred married Carl Lundberg and in 1943 they bought a farm in Erie Township. They farmed there for 30 years until Carl was forced into retirement because of his health. They then moved to their home on Little Floyd Lake. After Carl’s death in 2002 she moved into the Silver Birch Apartments in Detroit Lakes. She spent the last 5 years in Emmanuel Nursing Home where she was very happy, had very good care, and made lots of good friends. She had several jobs throughout the years and belonged to numerous clubs and organizations where she held many different positions. One of her favorite past times was her interest in local history and genealogy. She made several scrapbooks of friends, neighbors, and rural churches. She also enjoyed painting, playing piano and organ, Rummikub, cards, puzzles, and bingo. She was the spelling bee champion this last month at Emmanuel Nursing Home. She was also the Becker County Outstanding Senior Citizen in 1995. She is survived by her children, Roger(Karen)Lundberg, Detroit Lakes, Jan(Ron) Anderson, Rochert. Lois Welsch, Tucson, AZ, Daughter-in-law Betty Danielson, Long Prairie. She has 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and godchildren Vernon Danielson and Lorna Crowell There are many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, son Richard(1962), daughter Kathy Muench(2013), sons-in-law Jody Muench(2016) and George Welsch(2017) and one brother Maynard(1992) Memorial Services will be on Thursday July 19, 2018; 2:00 p.m. at the Lund Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lund Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
